About

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Bioinformatics at UC Santa Cruz genomic institution, under the supervision of professor Josh Stuart. I have received my bachelor in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley in 2016. I am broadly interested in machine learning methods, and applying models to real-life problems. I have done multiple internships in both academia (UC Berkeley, UC San Fransisco), and industry ( Agilent, Enara). I have experience of working in both startup environment and big companies. My current research focuses on applying machine learning and deep learning models to interperate biological data.

Research

Broadly speaking, I am very excited about the machine learning and its application to real-world problems! My current research focuses on applying different machine learning algorithms to analyze biological data. I am very interested in personalized medicine field. Cancer is a very heterogeneous, and not everyone reacts the same to chemotherapy treatments; As a result, it is important to prescribe chemotherapies based on an individual’s genome and clinical signatures. One of my goals as a Ph.D. student is to apply machine learning models to improve the personalized medicine field. I am also working on applying models to cancer patients clinical and genomic data in order to improve survival prediction.
